Alquerque (also known as Qirkat) is a strategy board game that is thought to have originated in the Middle East. It is considered to be the parent of draughts (US, South Africa: checkers) and Fanorona.

The objective of the game is to take all opponent's pieces or to produce a position such that the opponent is unable to move. Moves are allowed along any line to a vacant position. Pieces are captured by being jumped over. More than one capture is possible in a move. If there is the opportunity to capture one or more of opponent's pieces, then it must be done.
